“Reading with Olivia” was established to provide children’s books to individuals, hospitals, pediatrician offices, and other organizations to promote reading to children from birth.
Olivia Kennedy Butash was born on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 8:31 PM to proud parents Ryan and Erika, and died unexpectedly in her sleep at her home on September 19, 2015.
The one thing that Olivia liked to do the most was read books. Her parents, Ryan and Erika, started reading to her during the day and at bedtime from a very early age. As Olivia grew she became more and more interested in books and reading. Olivia’s first two favorite books were “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?” and “At the Zoo,” which might be why she became so obsessed with animals.
In remembrance of Olivia, and in hopes of bringing similar joy to other young children, her parents, Ryan and Erika, have decided to start the Reading with Olivia foundation. The money raised will go towards a collection of children’s books, inscribed with Olivia’s name, which will be donated to individuals, children’s hospitals, pediatric offices, and other organizations serving children.
